ScholarOne, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based workflow and management solutions for scholarly publishers, is pleased to announce the donation of Manuscript Central and ScholarOne Professional Services to a consortium of Sub-Saharan Medical Journals. This group is funded by the National Institutes of Health, the National Library of Medicine, the FogartyInternationalCenter, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences through an ongoing partnership to strengthen capacity for editors, reviewers and authors. It includes the Ghana Medical Journal, Dr. David Ofori-Adjei, Editor; the Malawi Medical Journal （Dr. Adamson Muula, Associate Editor）; Mali Médical （Dr. Siaka Sidibe, Editor）; and African Health Sciences （Dr. James Tumwine, Editor-in-Chief）. Implementation of the systems will begin in autumn 2005.

The ScholarOne project complements ongoing efforts by the Council of Science Editors （CSE） to assist editors of African medical journals to increase the visibility and quality of their journals. The implementations parallel a Council of Science Editors effort to manage the logistics of the African Journals Partnership Project. The project, which partners these four African journals with journals in the Northern Hemisphere, now includes ScholarOne, which will provide the journals' online peer review workflow management, tools, training, and other support to accelerate the journals' progress towards achieving their goals.
