ScholarOne, Inc. and Tokyo-based Kyorinsha, a leading service provider in Japan for scholarly societies and publications, have announced the formation of a strategic partnership. The companies will work together to produce a dual language（English/Japanese）version of ScholarOne® Abstract Central™ and its related Itinerary Planner™ product. In addition, Kyorinsha will resell Abstract Central™ in the Japanese market and provide Japanese-language configuration, support, training, and system documentation services.
Abstract Central™ is a Web-based system used to manage the acquisition, review, tracking, and sessioning of abstracts prepared for scholarly meetings. The Itinerary Planner™ enables meeting organizers to publish abstracts online or on CD-ROM in advance of the meeting. Users then review the abstracts online, mark those of interest, and use the selections to build personalized itineraries that can be saved and printed.
Kyorinsha, led by President Kazumasa Watanabe, is the largest printer of medical journals in Japan and provides editorial, production, and cross-media publishing services for a variety of scholarly publications. The company has been in operation since 1948.
